The Middlemount Sun Farm development site is located around 1km east from the town of Middlemount in central Queensland.

The site is located on cleared land within a rural farming area that is surrounded on three sides by uncleared rural land that provides a natural separation between the sun farm and nearby transport routes and town activities.  The adjacent rural and is also used for pastoral activities.

The project site is well served by regional highways and rail transport systems. In addition, the Middlemount airport provides easy access to the area from major coastal hubs such as Rockhampton.

The site was identified by OVERLAND because of its location within close proximity to the Ergon Energy 132kV substation, the large open areas of land that have been cleared for general farming and the high levels of sunshine that occur in this region.

We would like to thank the landowners, community and Council at and around Middlemount for their support during the development of this exciting project.

The development site for the sun farm is located on privately owned large, open areas to the east of the Ergon Energy substation.  The land enables a short connection line to the substation and was selected to avoid the remnant native vegetation that surrounds much of Middlemount. The land is also positioned to avoid direct flight paths in an out of the local airport.

The Middlemount Sun Farm will be connected to the substation by a short 1.5km electrical connection line.  The electrical network system at Middlemount forms part of the wider Queensland grid network, connecting through the Lilyvale sub station.

The Middlemount Sun Farm project is located within the Isaac Regional Council and will be constructed and operated under the provisions of the Sustainable Planning Act (QLD 2009) and the Broadsound Council Planning Scheme.

OVERLAND has completed all of the studies and assessments that are required under the planning scheme and is working with Council and government agencies to finalise planning requirements for the construction and operation of the Middlemount solar energy generation sun farm.
